    • An hour’s drive to the east coast would bring you to the coast from where we would travel by boat to Ile Aux Cerfs. Ile Aux Cerfs island is only a twenty minute boat ride away from the main island and perhaps has the best beaches in Mauritius. The island is truly beautiful and a wide variety of water sports may be availed. Ile aux Cerfs has two restaurants and a professional golf course too.

    • Your next stop will be at Le Caudan Waterfront, an open-air space by the port, The Caudan Waterfront is a must for those looking for the top designer brands at bargain prices. At this bustling, lively seafront you will find numerous restaurants serving a wide range of cuisines. Take a visit to the artisanal shops and only library in Caudan and browse through the contents of the shelves… You are likely to find a treasure of Mauritian art and literature.

    • During the South Tour, you would be taken to the Floréal factory shop near the eth town of Curepipe. A visit to Le Trou Aux Cerfs, an extinct
      80-metre deep crater in the centre of the island is a must for its panoramic viewpoints it offers all round its 300 metres diameter set amidst lush greenery and vast agricultural fields. Following this we would visit the sacred lake of Grand Bassin also commonly referred to as the Ganga Talao. The largest fresh water reservoir of the island – Mare Aux Vacoas is also visited. Not far from Grand Bassin, is the Black River Gorges National Park view point where one would enjoy a breathtaking view of the gorges merging with the Indian Ocean.

Frequently Asked Questions

Mauritius enjoys a relatively mild climate. Although temperatures are rather moderate throughout the year with occasional rainfall, the most pleasant times to visit the island are between the months of April and June and between September and December. As Mauritius is located in the southern hemisphere, the summer and winter months are opposite to seasons in Europe.

The local currency is the Mauritian Rupee (MUR), which is divided into 100 cents. USD$ and EURO€ are widely accepted in Mauritius but the most frequently demanded one is EURO€.

The power supply is 240 volts and British three-square pins and continental two round-pin plugs are both used here. Visitors, however, are advised to bring their own adaptors.

Between its traditional marketplaces – where bargaining is almost a ritual – are upscale shopping malls and great shopping opportunities all over the country. Local shops, international stores, and luxury brand boutiques can answer every wish of a cosmopolitan clientele with a varied range of products.

Typical souvenirs: Tea, sugar, vanilla, rum, spices, local sweet treats, toys, dodo bird figurines and plush toys, ship models, silver and gold jewellery, tropical pareos and beach towels are available for purchase. All products are manufactured under the national label “Made in Moris”.

  • Foreign visitors and departing Mauritians can enjoy savings up to 15% when they shop across the island in over 1000 registered stores.
  • Foreign visitors can claim the VAT/Duty Paid on their purchases made in registered shops displaying the TAX REFUND logos. Ask for a VAT PAID SUPPLIES TO VISITORS Sales Receipt or DF5 invoice when your purchases total a minimum of MUR2,300 (VAT included) per store. Check that your passport and departure details (flight or sea voyage) have been properly entered on your sales receipt.
  • On arriving at the SSR International Airport and before checking-in on your departure flight, get your sales receipts approved at the MRA Customs Counter in the check-in hall. After going through passport and security control, go to the MCCI Tax Refund Counter in the main departure lounge and present your approved VAT PAID SUPPLIES TO VISITORS Sales receipts or DF5 invoice to collect your refund.
